There will
be a Madrid derby in the semi-finals of the Champions League as Real were drawn
against Atletico in the last four draw on Friday.
This is the
fourth consecutive season where the two capital city rivals will clash in the
competition – the previous three have been won by Real – while the other
semi-final see’s Barcelona’s conquerors Juventus clash with Ligue 1 side
Monaco.
The first leg
will be at the Bernabeu with Atletico hosting the return at the Vicente Calderon,
what promises to be the final European match staged at the their long-time
home.
The ties
will be played on May 2nd and 3rd with the return legs scheduled for May 9th
and 10th.
Los Blancos
have progressed past Napoli and Bayern Munich to reach the last four, while
Diego Simeone’s men have seen off the challenges of Bayer Leverkusen and
Leicester City.
The final
will take place at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in Wales on Saturday, June 3.
