Gambo out of Tornadoes clash

By Taofeek Babalola

Kano Pillars striker, Gambo Mohammed has failed late fitness test and will not be available for selection when his side face Niger Tornadoes in the match day 19 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clash at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, Sportinglens.blogspot.com can reveal.

The team’s doctor Ali Adamu had already assured fans that the gangling forward would be available for the encounter when he showed an improvement during training session.

But the club’s Media Officer, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa informed Sportinglens.blogspot.com that Gambo has not yet fully recovered fully from the ankle injury he is suffering from.

“Everybody would have loved to have him back in the team but we have to be very careful and be patient with him. He is not yet 100 per cent fit and any attempt to force him play may aggravate the injury and we don’t want anything of such,” Malikawa told Sportinlens.blogspot.com.

Malikawa also said the team arrived in Lokoja in high spirit with the aim of getting positive result against Tornadoes.

“We are in Lokoja with 20 players and all of them are set for the match and after the match we are heading to Enugu for our rescheduled match with Rangers FC on Sunday,” Malikawa said.
