Bias officiating force Eguavoen out as Sunshine Stars coach

By our reporter

Former Super Eagles coach Austin Eguavoen has tendered his resignation as Sunshine Stars’ Technical Adviser, Sportinglens.blogspot.com report.

Eguavoen joined other coaches who left their positions at the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs after Japanese Kenichi Yatsuhashi, Mohammed Baba Ganaru, Kadiri Ikhana, Okey Emordi, Bala Nikyu, Nduka Ugbade, Godwin Uwua, Imama Amapakabo and Kayode Olujohungbe.

Report has it that the former Super Eagles coach left his job due to bias officiating tilting against his team in recent NPFL matches and does not feel he can continue in his head coach role.

Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports that Sunshine Stars complained bitterly after its equalizing goal was ruled for offside during matchday 22 league game against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) at Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Sunday. Also, the Owena Waves were stunned when a handball goal was awarded to Plateau United in the 2-1 home loss in the matchday 23 tie in Akure on Wednesday.

The club received the coach's resignation on Friday. Eguavoen will not be in the dugout for Sunshine Stars this Sunday when they face Kano Pillars.
