Gianluigi
Buffon has admitted he has only 'one more chance' of winning the Champions
League after Juventus were beaten 4-1 by Real Madrid in the final on Saturday.
Cristiano
Ronaldo scored twice at the Principality Stadium as Madrid retained the trophy
and extended Buffon's long wait for a European title.
The
39-year-old has won 22 trophies during an illustrious career, including eight
Serie A titles and the World Cup in 2006.
But the
Champions League has so far proved elusive for Buffon. And the veteran keeper
knows time is running out if he is to add the trophy to his collection before
he hangs up his gloves.
'I still
have one more year on my contract, so that means I have one more chance of
winning the Champions League,' Buffon told Sky Sport Italia.
'Admittedly,
it'll be tough to do better than this year, because we could've done something
truly incredible this season. Unfortunately, we didn't manage it.'
Massimiliano
Allegri's side had hoped to complete a historic treble in Cardiff, having
already won the Serie A and Coppa Italia double.
But
Ronaldo's brace, along with goals from Casemiro and Marco Asensio, ensured
Buffon has now lost three finals, including two in the last three years.
The keeper
plans to retire following the 2018 World Cup in Russia, by which time he will
be 40-years-old.
