Umar, Oyedeji emerge as NBBF President, Vice-President

The Nigeria Basketball Federation on Monday held elections for the board to steer the affairs of the boys between 2017 and 2021. The election held in Kano was held a day earlier than the general election into all sports federations in Nigeria being organised by the Nigerian Sports Ministry.


According to a release by the spokesman of the NBBF, Patrick Omorodion, the elected officials are: Tijjani Umar (president), Olumide Oyedeji (vice-president, representing North East representative).

Others in the board include D'Tigress chief coach, Scott Nnaji (coaches), the International Basketball Federation (FIBA – world) representative, Muktar Kaleh; FIBA Africa representative, Dr Joseph Adeyemo from Kwara and  North Central representative, Mustapha Suleiman from Kano,

Tunde Popoola (referees) Scambo Morrison (technical commission), Mrs Margaret Porbeni, representing Nigerian Women in Sports (NAWIS), Segun Famuyiwa for North West, Ejike Paul Medus for South West and Stanley Gumut for South East also make up the composition of the board.


A bye-election would be conducted at a later date according to the chairman of the electoral panel, Kennedy Osunwa. The release further stated that no election was held for the South South zonal representative.
