Real Madrid take Champions League trophy back home again

Sergio Ramos enjoyed an airborne song and dance as Real Madrid legends past and present came together to celebrate the club's historic Champions League victory over Juventus on Saturday.

The Madrid captain uploaded a video of him and a group of friends raising a toast to his side's victory on the plane home as former icons Roberto Carlos and Raul joined the party following the 4-1 win in Cardiff.

Zinedine Zidane's side won a record 12th Champions League and became the first side to retain the title thanks to goals from Casemiro, Marco Asensio and a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo posted a photo on Instagram of him standing on the runway at Cardiff airport with the famous trophy, holding up four fingers – to mark the number of European titles he now has to his name.

The forward netted twice at the Principality Stadium to become the first player to score in three Champions League finals and the first since Madrid icon Alfredo Di Stefano to net in three European Cup finals.

Another club legend, Roberto Carlos, had earlier joined the Madrid team in the changing rooms at the Principality, posing for photos with the likes of Marcelo and Luka Modric.

He was part of the Los Blancos side that won the Champions League on these shores in 2002 alongside Zidane and prolific former striker Raul.

And 15 years on from victory at Glasgow's Hampden Park, the trio were reunited and posed for a photo on the plane back to Spain.

Madrid would have to go 12 years before they would get their hands on the trophy again. But for many of the current crop, winning the Champions League is becoming a bit of a habit.

Isco — who started in Cardiff ahead of Gareth Bale and has won the trophy three times by the age of only 25 — posed for pictures with 'Big Ears' in the dressing room, as did team-mates Karim Benzema, Danilo and Casemiro.

Keylor Navas, who could have played his last game for the club, also uploaded a picture with the trophy on the journey back to Spain.
