Shooting
Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan revive their hope of survival after securing a 1-1
away draw against Rangers International in the matchday 28 of the Nigeria
Professional Football League (NPFL)at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday.
The win
means the Oluyole Warriors extended their consecutive unbeaten run against Rangers
International FC Enugu to four. The Ibadan warlord are now unbeaten in six of
their last seven NPFL matches against Rangers, winning three and drawing three
matches.
The much
talk about game lived up to its billings as the old teams rekindled their rivalry
and showed their fans the paraphernalia that always occur anytime both sides
meet.
It was Flying
Antelopes that netted the first goal when Godwin Aguda put the hosts in front
in the 29 minutes with the determination to avenge their late minute loss to
Ibadan-based side in their last encounter in Ibadan when Rangers lost 87
minutes penalty in the exciting game.
The home
side had another chance to increase the tally but Shooting Stars goalkeeper
Charles Tembe made excellent save to stop Bobby Clement's point blank effort in
the 50th minutes. Six minute late Clemet was substitute for Omo Johnson
when he was injured.
After
several attempts from both sides, 3SC back on level terms as Abu Azeez found
the net against the run of play. The Super Sand Eagles star’ first goal for 3SC
and his first in the league since May 2016.
Interestingly,
Azeez scored in an away NPFL match after exactly 2 years since he last achieved
the feat (3SC 2-1 WARRI WOLVES).
3SC are
still in the relegation zone with 33 points from 28 matches.
