2018 CHAN QUALIFIER: Super Eagles’ invitation is not for pleasure, Pascal warned players

By Taofeek Babalola

Super Eagles Team Coordinator Pascal Patrick (Mon) has warned the invited CHAN Eagles players to see their invitation as a privilege and brace up for the team’s challenge, reports Sportinlens.blogspot.com.

The team’s head coach Salisu Yusuf had last week released the names of 30-man list who are due to resume camping on Thursday in preparation for the 2018 CHAN qualifying match against the winner of the tie between Togo and Benin Republic.

In a chat with Sportinlens.blogspot.com, the ex-international advised the players to see their call up as a way to make progress for themselves as well as helping the country.

He also urged the non-invited players not to see themselves as inferior, insisting that all the best players cannot play for the national team at the same time.

“The invited players should see their invitation in two ways; as a way to make progress for themselves and to help the country too. National team call up is not for pleasure and party and they should be ready to face the challenge. This is the best avenue for them to make progress for their carrier. We have seen things like this before. In the last CHAN, Chikatara was nobody before the tournament and he was able to secure a better offer when he was able to prove his worth during the tournament. To the non-invited players; they should not see this as a bad omen for themselves rather than continue working very hard and wait for their chances,” Pascal said to Sportinlens.blogspot.com.
