LBA award, a sign of NPFL title this year, says Maikaba

By Taofeek Babalola

Akwa United technical adviser, Abdu Maikaba has said that his Manager of the Month Award will propel him to clinch the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title this season, Sportinglens.blogspot.com can reveal.

Sportinglens.blogspot.com  reports that Maikaba had won his previous two seasons’ League Bloggers Manager of the Month Awards in the month of July while he claimed this year’s award in the month of April.

In a telephone conversation with Sportinglens.blogspot.com, the former Kano Pillars coach said he is determined for the success of the team this season.

“I am very excited with the award. Since my first season at Wikki Tourists I always won the manager of the month award in July; I won the award in July in my second season as well. I don’t know that the award will come very early this season at Akwa United unlike the previous seasons. I won the award for the month of April this season which means I might likely win the league title this season,” Maikaba said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com.

He added: “If the award can come based on our current form and our present position on the log it means we are on course for the league title. We were bottom of the league after week six and we are gradually progressing until we reach our present position. For the past months we are moving up on the table and we are not looking back. The only position remaining for us to climb is 2nd or 1st which is our target now.

“Akwa United is a mixture of young players with very view experienced players. We are getting the best of them and their willingness to excel has helped our journey so well. Our chairman is very caring person every person will love to work with. He has made the environment easy for us to work with.”
