Neymar has
privately confirmed his intention to complete a world-record transfer to Paris
Saint-Germain and said goodbye to a select number of Barcelona team-mates,
according to a report in Le Parisen.
The Ligue 1
outfit are ready to meet Neymar's €222million (£196m) buy-out clause and are
confident of convincing him to move to Parc des Princes with a stunning
five-year contract worth £596,000 a week after tax.
And,
according to the French newspaper, the Brazilian is now ready to leave the Nou
Camp behind, telling his closest friends in the Barcelona dressing room that
his mind is made up.
The report
goes on to state that Barcelona executives have already given up hope of
convincing him to stay and are instead working on a plan to reinvest the huge
windfall that his move would generate.
Those same
officials may not be too sad to see him leave either with a number of them
concerned that Neymar has let his socialite lifestyle take precedence over his
football career, something former star Ronaldinho fell foul of before leaving
in 2008.
Barcelona's
surprise £72m bid for Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, which Sportsmail
exclusively revealed, may have been the first such move to soften the blow of
Neymar's departure.
In contrast,
it may have also been a desperate bid to get him to stay as the two players
share a close relationship.
Indeed,
Neymar has publicly urged Barcelona to sign the playmaker in the past and his
arrival could convince him to remain for the time being.
