Duke Udi dedicates Sunshine Stars' victory to God, players

Sunshine Stars coach Duke Udi has dedicated his team's match day 28 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) victory against Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC to God and his hardworking players.

Second half goals from Sikiru Alimi, Ajibola Otegbeye, Abiodun Joseph and Ezekiel Thompson helped the Akure landlords humbled the Saraki Boys 4-2 to move up to safety (15th) in the ongoing 2016/17 NPFL campaign.

While interacting with Sunshine Stars FC Media after the game, Coach Udi who have God and the his players to thank for the precious victory revealed that every one at the club including the management and the technical staff put in an effort to achieve the result.

"First of all I dedicate this victory to God Almighty and my players. The boys worked very hard and deserved this moment. The victory is also a product of our management, coaching crew and everyone's effort," Udi stated.

ABS FC scored their first goal via a spot kick from an unclear incident that appeared to have occurred outside the area while Sunshine Stars striker, Ezekiel Thompson had his first goal of the game chalked off for offside  but the former Super Eagles star refused to blame the referee on the decisions.

Udi posited: "It was a good game even from the officiating angle. The cancelled goal? I observed the referee already pointed to the centre but on sighting the flag of his assistance he changed his mind. I feel they must have their reason. They obviously know better because it is their job."

"I have warned my players to always show the referee respect. You see I was furious with one of my players when he picked up a yellow card for dissent.  No argument with the referee. You can't be the player and still do the referee's job at the same time."

Udi, however, maintained nothing has been secured or lost for his side so far in the campaign as the plan of the team remained picking as much as possible points in the remaining matches of the season.
