Matic is set to be announced as a Manchester United player after a picture
emerged of the Serbia international in the club's training gear.
Matic
underwent a medical on Sunday afternoon and could be unveiled as early as
Sunday evening after Chelsea agreed to allow the 28-year-old to join their
Premier League rivals for £40million.
The Blues
had initially baulked at the idea of their player joining Premier League
rivals, preferring him to make a move to Serie A side Juventus.
However,
with the Italians unable to meet the financial package on offer at Old Trafford
and with the player intent on leaving Stamford Bridge, it appears that the deal
is close to completion.
And the move
looked to be in its final stages on Sunday as one picture appeared on picture, purportedly
of Matic in his new Manchester United training gear.
The snap
appeared to be one sent to someone in Serbia, with the reply underneath
stating:
'First hand
information' in Serbian.
Matic also
had the No 31 emblazoned on his top, suggesting he will be taking up the number
vacated by Bastian Schweinsteiger following his move to Chicago Fire.
The move
will see Matic reunite with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, whom he won
the league under in 2015.
He will be
the third fresh face through the door at Old Trafford this summer following the
arrivals of defender Victor Lindelof and striker Romelu Lukaku.
