The matchday
32 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) between Rangers international
and Rivers United was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the Nnamdi Azikiwe
Stadium, Enugu on Sunday.
The matched was
called off after 20 minutes of play when it was raining heavily and the remaining
70 minutes would be concluded at 8am on Monday morning at the same venue.
The media
officer of Rangers International, Foster Chime confirmed that: “The match could
not continue as expected. The match was suspended after 20 minutes and the
remaining 70 minutes would be played tomorrow morning.”
Before the
referee called off the game, Rivers United posted on their twitter account
that: “This game will be called off at some point UNLESS the rains subside.
Pitch is slowly getting waterlogged.”
