Abia
Warriors Football Club of Umuahia striker, Sunday Adetunji has undergone a
successful surgery on his fractured left arm at the Federal medical Centre,
Umuahia.
The former
Shooting Stars of Ibadan hitman had fractured his forearm after he scored his
second goal in Abia Warriors’ 4-2 away victory over Lobi Stars in Makurdi. He
was initially rushed to the emergency unit of the Benue State University
Teaching Hospital, Makurdi where he received treatment before he was
transferred to Umuahia.
At the
federal Medical Centre, Umuahia a team of doctors operated on the forearm and
successfully joined both ends of the broken bones.
“It was an
open reduction internal fixation surgery to join both ends of the broken bones
and hold them in place and I’m very happy it was very successful,” Dr Enyinnaya
Anozie, who was part of the team of doctors that carried out the surgery told
the club's media.
Dr Anozie revealed
that the player was in a stable condition and could even return to action
earlier than expected.
