Birmingham City agree €4.5m deal for Onazi

Birmingham City have completed a €4.5million deal to sign Nigerian midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, according to reports in Turkey.

The Nigerian midfielder joined current club Trabzonspor from Lazio last year and scored twice in 27 Turkish Super Lig matches last season.

Onazi, 24, has 38 caps for the Super Eagles and was part of their Africa Cup of Nations squad in January. Onazi helped Nigeria to win African football’s greatest prize in 2013.

Blues manager Harry Redknapp hasn’t hidden his desire to sign new midfielders following the acquisition of Cheikh Ndoye from Angers.

Redknapp thought he had secured a deal for Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu before he decided to join Bursaspor instead.

Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah was linked with a club record £7m switch to Blues on Wednesday.
