African Handball Tourney: 27 players train in Lagos

Twenty seven players under the watch of three coaches have commenced training in Lagos ahead of the 2018 senior African Nations Handball tourney.


The players who are sweating it out at the Rowe Park Sports centre Lagos have been charged to be focused to deliver during the competition.

Addressing them shortly after their training session, the president of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) Mr. Samuel Ocheho urged them to be prepared for the challenges ahead of them.

Ocheho , who said the camping was the first stage of the country’s preparations, assured that the new board will do everything possible to revive the lost glory of the game in the country.

The president expressed delight with the spirit of the players in the camp, hoping they will reap the benefits of their preparation.

He said the interest shown by the players indicated their determination and commitment to give their best in making the country proud in Gabon next year.

Ocheho pointed out that despite the financial constraints in the federation he will not relent in his efforts towards ensuring that Nigeria do well in the forthcoming nation cup and other international competitions.

He commended the board members of the federation for their   cooperation in moving the game forward and urged them to sustain the tempo in order to meet the yearning and aspirations of the handball family in the country.


The players in the camp were drawn from various States across the country.
