Wikki, Rangers share spoil under floodlight

Wikki Tourists fine run in the second round of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) suffered a setback on Sunday following a 1-1 draw against Rangers International FC at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.


It was a must win contest for both sides considering their position on the log as they are trying to cement their NPFL status.

It was Rangers that broke the deadlock in the 15th minutes when Bright Silas' shot deflected in but Chinedu Onyelonu equalized for the home team seven minutes later to end the first half 1-1.

A small drama ensured in the second half when the players of Enugu Rangers refused to come on the pitch but after a long delay the Flying Antelopes eventually returned to the pitch and the match had to be played under floodlight.

But after series of attempts from both sides yielded failed to add to the goals tally, the referee Odey Ben from FCT ended the game.


Wikki Tourists are now placed 13th with 44 points while Rangers occupy the 15th position with 43 points.
