Wikki Tourists fined N2.250m, to play 3 matches behind closed doors

.To pay cost of damaged Rangers bus


The League Management Company LMC) has ordered Wikki Tourists to play three games behind closed doors in addition to paying a fine of N2.250m for various violations of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Framework and Rules. 


The Bauchi-based outfit was charged following investigations into the incidents that happened in the Match Day 33 fixture between Wikki Tourists and Rangers International at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium on Sunday.

Two of the three games would however be served should there be a recurrence of the incident before the end of the season. 

Furthermore, the club will also pay the full cost for the repair of the damaged Rangers bus.

The club was charged for violations of Rules B13.18, B13.52, C11 and C1 covering breaches of field encroachment by supporters, failure to ensure adequate security, assault of match officials and conduct likely to bring the league to disrepute.

For the encroachment of the Supporters on to the field of play and throwing of objects, Wikki were fined N1m and N750, 000 for failure to ensure adequate security.

Pursuant to rules C12, the club was also ordered to pay compensation of N250, 000 to each of the match officials attacked and injured by the Supporters.

The LMC noted however that Wikki Tourists management has fully cooperated with investigations leading to the apprehension and on-going prosecution by the Police, of some of the alleged culprits.

Wikki have 48 hours to either accept or appeal the #NPFL sanctions.

Center referees Odey Benjamin and Bose Momoh were pelted with object during and after Sunday’s.

An Upper Sharia Court No 1 sitting in Bauchi had on Tuesday ordered that the three suspects Mohammed Isa 25, Hamisu Mohammed 30, Yola Ishaya 27, be reminded in prison custody till August 31 for further hearing on their case.
