Agege Local Govt boss pledges support to MFM

By Taofeek Babalola

The newly elected chairman of Agege Local Government Ganiyu Egunjobi has promised that his administration will give all necessary support to Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC.

Egunjobi was visibly present at the Agege Stadium on Sunday when MFM defeated Gombe United 1-0 in the match day 35 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) encounter.

Egunjobi, who led his executive member to the Soccer Temple, admitted that since MFM started using Agege Stadium for their home ground, the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) of the Local Government Area has been boosted.

“Each time MFM play here at the Agege Stadium, all hotels are filled up, food vendors smiled home with lots of money. The players that came to play here from other states also buy something and that has improved our IGR in Agege Local Government. So what we have to do is to give back to the team by giving them all our total support in all ramifications,” Ogunjobi said.

“We can’t wait for the team’s qualification for the continent because it will be another boost for Agege Local government in terms of revenue generation. We are ready to host Africa and by the grace of God we will assist the team to achieve better result.”

MFM went into the game without their utility strikers Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun who was part of the Super Eagles players that defeated Benin Republic in the Africa Nations Champions on Saturday at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.

Monsuru Bashiru’s 21 minutes goal was all Olukoya Boys needed to secure a deserving maximum three points at stake in the match.

The coach Fidelis Ilechukwu tutored-side dominated the game and they put smiled into the faces of the supports that trooped en mass to cheer their team to victory.

The result helped MFM to reduce the points that separated them from the league leaders, Plateau United to three points and retained their second spot. Plateau United lost 2-0 to Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC at Ilorin on Sunday.
