Olumide Oyedeji joins Luoyang

Chinese National Basketball League (NBL) side Luoyang have strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 36-year old Nigerian international center Olumide Oyedeji (210-111kg-81).


The former Ebun Comets star, who missed last season and had one year break from professional basketball, returned to Chinese National Basketball League.

Nigerian-British professional basketball center, who played in the NBA for 3 seasons, is a dual citizen owning also British passport. The last time (15-16) he played at London Lions in British BBL league.  

In 2000 Oyedeji was drafted by Seattle Supersonics (NBA) in second round (42nd overall).

The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he played in the final of British BBL in 2015. Oyedeji was also voted Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese CBA 2nd Team back in 2010.

He represented Nigeria at the Afrobasket Championships in Abidjan (Ivory Coast) four years ago. His stats at that event were 7 games: 2.1ppg, 4.0rpg.

Oyedeji is quite experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America) in fourteen different countries. Oyedeji has played previously professionally in Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy (Juvecaserta), Japan (Tochigi Brex), Jordan (ASU), Korea (LG Sakers), Kuwait, Puerto Rico (Vaqueros), Russia, Slovenia, Spain (CB Granada), NBA (Atlanta Hawks) and China (Flying Leopards, Brave Dragons, Long Lions and Eagles).

It's very possible he may end his playing career at Luoyang.

The scouts described him in following way: “Very athletic; he can run, jump and get physical with the best. He has an NBA body. He has matured into a dominating force has shown in German League competition. Considered as a potential first round NBA draft choice, he has won every slam dunk contest he has entered, speaking five different foreign languages.”
