Tourists FC forward Idris Guda has said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com that his side’s 2-1 victory over
Sunshine Stars in the match day 32 of the Nigeria Professional Football (NPFL)
was a good morale booster that will ginger them to work for more success in
their remaining games.
Guda, who
scored the equaliser for Wikki before they eventually secured all important
three points at stake in the match, added that his goal came in handy.
He promised
to continue scoring until his team get out of the critical situation it is in.
Guda is
confident that the Big Elephants will finish the league among the top teams.
Chinedu
Onyelonu scored the decisive goal from the spot as Wikki Tourists FC edged a
dogged 10-man Sunshine Stars FC.
Nojeem Raji
headed home from a Dayo Ojo's corner kick in the 12th minute to draw the first
blood for the visitors however four minutes later Idris Guda poked into an
empty net for Wikki's equaliser from a corner kick after Sunshine Stars
goalkeeper Henry Ayodele was caught offguard.
Moments
before he was sent off, Ojo had a chance to restore Stars lead but his fierce
effort just inside the area was repelled by Wikki goalkeeper, Emeka Nwabulu.
The midfield maestro got his marching order on the half hour mark for alleged
dissent after picking up a yellow card for a foul. Ojo's regrettable dismissal
will turned out to be the undoing of his team in the second half.
In the 63rd
minutes Wikki who were enjoying the numerical advantage appealled successfully
for a penalty after Anthony Omaka was adjudged to have handed the ball in the
area. Onyelonu converted the spot kick to hand the hosts the advantage they
protected till the end.
Henry
Ayodele made series of eye catching saves later to deny the home side a third
goal and helped keep Sunshine Stars in the game to set the tone for a nervy
ending to the clash.
