One of the
most travelled coaches in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL),
Ladan Bosso, now with El-Kanemi Warriors is already dreaming of a continental
ticket with 25 matches still to play this season.
Bosso, who
had spells at Bayelsa United, Wikki Tourists, Kano Pillars and Abia Warriors
before joining El-Kanemi Warriors says he had never lost in Owerri against
Heartland and is hoping his team will make him proud when they travel to meet
the Naze Millionaires this weekend.
Apart from
having an eye fixed on their trip to Owerri, the El-Kanemi coach took time off
to salute his players for showing doggedness in front of their fans at the
Maiduguri stadium, where they have won their two matches there without
conceding.
Bosso is
proud of his local champions and believes that they can make Maiduguri a
fortress though he rued Mustapha Ibrahim's failure to score from the spot on
his second asking in their 1-0 win over Ikorodu United.
"My
players are local champions," he said with a smile. "We can beat any
team here in Maiduguri. I am happy we are playing our home matches right here
before the home fans again. You don't know what it means playing away in an
adopted ground. Here we are loved, here we are respected and here we know how
to score the goals. Unfortunately we couldn't score a second (against Ikorodu
United). We got another penalty but Ibrahim missed it which was really painful
but we will continue to work harder to ensure that we take all our chances as
they come," Bosso said.
El-Kanemi
Warriors have won five out of the 13 games played this season and all five
victories came on home soil, a trend Bosso says is not really good. "We
must start winning away from home. To get a continental ticket, we must learn
to pick points away from home and I am sure we will do just that this weekend
against Heartland in Owerri. We are going there with a mission to win or worst
case draw. I will like to applaud the League Management Company for the job
they are doing with the league. I also want to commend the referees for their
maturity this season. Now I can say confidently to you that we want to go and
pick points in Owerri that is because sanity has been restored and Nigerian
referees are doing a great job in the league.
"Let me
also use this opportunity to thank the management of this club, they have done
so well but can still do better in motivating the team to achieve the desired
result. We can achieve a lot if we all unite to make this dream a
reality," he concluded.
El-Kanemi
Warriors are currently in 13th position on the log with 16 points from 13
matches.
