Rivers
Hoopers head coach, Ogoh Odaudu is confident his team will make the playoffs at
the end of the 2015/2016 DSTV Basketball league season.
The Port
Harcourt side have only succeeded in winning 3 out of their 6 games played -
one win each out of the two games played against Nigeria Customs in Lagos,
Delta Force in Port Harcourt and most recently against Oluyole Warriors in
Ibadan.
Regardless
of their seeming inconsistency, the Benue born coach believes his side will
find their way to the play offs especially because of the depleted nature of
their group.
“It doesn’t
affect us in anyway, in this league, we have the conference six (6) play offs
and then the final eight (8) play offs. As it is right now, we will be in the
conference six (6) because they are only five (5) of us here and judging from
the team we have played so far, I think we will fumble and wumble our way into
the final eight (8) play offs,” Odaudu envisaged.
It will be
recalled that Lagos Islanders, Union Bank and Dodan Warriors were expelled from
the Atlantic conference following their participation in the Africa Basketball
League.
Hoopers will
next host unbeaten Kwara Falcons in Port Harcourt this weekend and Odaudu is
confident his team can end their unbeaten run.
“Though it’s
just four games they have played in their hall with just one game played away.
Yes of course you are bound to be scared, but I have a team that I can proudly
beat my chest for. These guys are not going to chicken out at any point. Even
if it’s an unbeaten record, it’s going to be good breaking that their unbeaten
record and handing them their first defeat.” Odaudu assured.
Rivers
Hoopers will play against Kwara Falcons on Friday and Saturday at the
basketball court on 59, Niger street by Lagos Bus stop, Port Harcourt.
