Women striker Desire Oparanozie is up and about after suffering an eye injury
that required stitches against Senegal in Friday’s Africa Women Cup of Nations
qualifier in Dakar that ended 1-1.
In a post on
her Instagram page, the EA Guingamp forward complained about the incident which
went without punishment of the culprit by centre referee, Moroccan Lamyaa
Lourarhi.
After the
injury was stitched up, Oparanozie was able to go out and posted a picture of
herself returning from church with a Bible in hand.
A few more
inches and the striker could have lost the use of her eye considering the size
of the gash. She claimed that an unnamed Senegalese player kicked at her with
boot studs without getting punished.
The Super
Falcons returned to Abuja at the weekend and are in preparation for Tuesday’s
return leg against the Lionesses at the Abuja National Stadium at 4pm.
The winner
will qualifier for the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
