George died
last Thursday in Kaduna after a brief illness.
Lobi Stars
Team Manager, Barnabas Imenger, who revealed this to SportingLife, said his
family has communicated his funeral arrangement to the club.
According to
Imenger, the wake-keep will comes up on Friday April 29 by 4pm at No 44 Jaba
street, behind ECWA House Church , U/Boro
Sabon Tasha Kaduna.
The Burial
service will be on Saturday April 30 by 10am at Maranatha Baptist Church U/Boro
while final interment takes place at his residence immediately after the
service.
Imenger said
the club’s high-power delegation comprising management, coaches and players
would travel to Kaduna on Friday morning to pay him his last respect.
He said the
club will do everything within its reach for the player’s family.
“We have
started doing our part but we don’t want whatever we are doing for his family
to be in the media. We are sending a high power club’s delegation to Kaduna for
the burial arrangement. We would be in Kaduna on Friday. We will miss him,”
Imenger said to SportingLife.
George, a
defensive midfielder, was on loan at Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi from Mighty Jets
FC of Jos and he was a regular member of the team.
His last
game was a 2-2 home draw between Lobi Stars and Kano Pillars last month and he
had obtained permission from the club to return to Kaduna to treat a recurring
bout of malaria, a trip he never returned from.
