Niger
Tornadoes coach, Abdullahi Biffo, says he and his players have taken notes of
lessons learned from their 2-0 loss to Akwa United on Sunday in Uyo.
Biffo told
npfl.ng that he told his players before the game that Akwa United had just
dropped points in two home games and would come all out to win.
“I told them
what to expect from Akwa United but I must say that Sunday in Uyo was one of
the very bad days for my team. We have done much better in other away games
this season,” Biffo said.
“We have
learned our lessons and we will go home to work on them and hope to do better
the next time we are on the road.”
He, however,
added that losing to Akwa United and playing poorly was not entirely the fault
of the team because they were not used to the playing surface in Uyo.
“The early
rain affected my boys and you know if you are playing with any team from the
Niger Delta and it starts raining, you know what it is,” Biffo told npfl.ng.
“We tried
but after the second goal we conceded it was over. It may not be a good excuse,
the rain, but what can we say? It was not a good match for us.”
Niger
Tornadoes now return to Lokoja on Sunday, April 17 as hosts of Lagos-based
Ikorodu United.
