I’m feeling fine now, says Gambo

Kano Pillars’ Captain Gambo Mohammed has recovered from the ear injury he sustained on Sunday during his side’s week 12 Nigeria Professional Football League clash against Rivers United at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port-Harcourt.

Gambo was taken to the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital (BMH), Port Harcourt after suffering a rupture of the tympanic membrane.
The striker clashed mid-air with United’s Ghanaian striker Wilson Andoh in the eighth minute of the contest which his side lost 0-1.

He was discharged from BMH on Tuesday morning and travelled to Kano in company of the team’s medical personnel, Ali Adamu and team manager, Yaro.

In a telephone chat with NationSport, Gambo was full of praise to God, stressing that he had fully recovered and was recuperating at his home in Kano.

“I am at home now and I am feeling fine. Everything is okay. I thank Allah for everything. I also thank everybody who contributed one way or the other to my recovery,” Gambo told NationSport.

The club’s media officer Idris Malikawa said Gambo visited consultants at the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, Kano on Wednesday morning for a medical check-up.

He also commended the management of Rivers United for the love and care shown to Gambo in Port-Harcourt.

“Gambo will be at the hospital tomorrow morning to see doctors in Kano for further check-up. We will continue to go with him to the hospital, until he is fully recovered.

“We thank Rivers United’s management, most especially the team’s secretary Ahmed Abdulraman for their sportsmanship. They showed love to Gambo since the incident happened and till he left Port-Harcourt to Kano.  It is a family matter and it can happen to anybody,” Malikawa said.
