Crown FC emerge Oyo State Fed Cup winners



Crown FC of Ogbomoso defeated Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) 2-1 in a crunchy final on Sunday evening at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan to win this year’s Oyo State Federation Cup trophy.

Crown FC new sensation Peter Michael gave the Ajilete warriors the lead midway into the game before Olukokun Olukunle Najeem leveled scores at half time for the Oluyole Warriors. 


3SC got a chance to take the lead when a penalty was awarded to them after a Crown defender handled the ball in the vital area but Kabir Umar wasted the opportunity midway into the second half. 


Crown forward Michael completed his brace in the 76th minute as he killed off the game when he capitalised on 3SC defensive mix-up to score the winner to upstage the state champions.


Crown FC tactician, Fatai Osho dedicated the trophy to the Almighty God and heaped praises on his boys for their untiring efforts at securing the victory. 


He made it known that he is not ready to rest on his oars until all competitions and trophies are achieved.

Crown was the runners up in the 2015 edition when its lost to 3SC and crashed out at the round of 32 after suffered a 1-0 defeat to Abia Warriors at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin. The Ogbomoso-based side walloped Caliphate of Sokoto 4-1 in the round of 62 at the Bako Kotangora Stadium, Minna.
