Kano Pillars emerged Kano State Federation Cup champions after
thrashing Samba Kurna FC 5-1 in the final clash on Sunday at the Sani Abacha
Stadium.
The premier league campaigner started the rout with Manir Ubale’s
3rd minute goal before Nafiu Kabuga extended the lead in the
27th minute. Samba FC reduced the tally through Jorome David in the 45th minute
to end the first half of the encounter 2-1 in favour of Kano Pillars.
As the second half resumed, Sai Masu Gida scored a quick goal in
the 47th minute through Azeez Shobowale to subdue Samba FC
firepower as they dominated possession.
Kano Pillars forward Gambo Mohammed who just returned from injury
netted the fourth goal to confirm his full fitness. Nafiu Ibrahim completed the
rout in the 78th minute when he scored the fifth goal to nail
the coffin of the Samba FC.
Pillars qualified for the final after beating a Nationwide side
Ramcy United FC by 2-0 in a semi final match. Nafiu Bala Kabuga and Promise
James 69 and 82 minutes goals were all Pillars needed to reach the final.
Samba Kurna FC defeated Kano Pillars Feeders in the second semi
final.
