FC of Makurdi were forced to a 2-2 draw by home team Enyimba FC of Aba in the
week 14 match of the Nigeria Professional Football League played on Sunday at
the Umuahia Stadium.
Abu Azeez
had put the People's Elephant ahead from the spot before Barnabas Imenger jnr
equalised for Lobi Stars shortly before halftime.
Solomon
Kwambe put the Ortom Boys in front in
the second half before Captain Chinedu Udoji levelled scores for the defending champions
to end the game at two goals apiece.
Speaking
after the game, the club’s Team Manager, Barnabas Imenger said the team’s
confidence is improving, insisting that it will get better.
He commended
club’s fans for their support while promising that the team won’t disappoint them
at the end of the season.
Imenger said:
“Congratulation to our fans for your support. Your patience is gradually paying
off as the team is taking shape. Our passes, movement, understanding, unity, commitment,
hard work, determination and confidence are improving and it will only get
better. Four clean goals; two from Imenger Jnr, Eduwo and kwambe with the referee
only accepting two goals in a game against mighty Enyimba is highly commendable
and encouraging.”
The captain
of the team Agbaji Tony dedicated the draw against Enyimba to all workers in
Benue State to commemorate with them on Workers Day celebration.
“We dedicated
our victory today (Sunday) against Enyimba FC to all the workers in Benue State
as we join them in celebrating Workers Day. Happy Workers Day pals!,” Agbaji
said.
