Mohammed was
outstanding in his team’s 1-0 away win over Sunshine Stars at Akure Stadium on
Sunday. Yusuf was a synosure of all eyes in the tense game as he made
some great saves to ensure that Sai Masu Gida went home with maximum three
points to break three years jinx of seeking victory at the Akure stadium.
The national
under-23 goalkeeper admitted that the game against Enyimba would be tough but
he believes the win over Sunshine Stars will boost their morale, stressing that
the team’s spirit is very high.
“Enyimba’s
game is like any other match. It is going to be a tough game but I am confident
that we will win. We went to Akure on Sunday and we won and I believe the
team’s spirit is very high now,” Mohammed told SportingLife.
Sai Masu
Gida occupying second position on the log but a win over Enyimba today will move
them on the same point with the league leaders, Enugu Rangers.
“We are not under pressure to win. We are
playing at home and our fans are behind us. We will build on Akure spirit to
beat Enyimba,” he said.
Mohammed
joined Kano Pillars from an amateur side Kano United in 2011.
He was part
of the squad that won AFCON gold medal with U-23 team in Senegal and qualified
for the 2016 men’s football event at the Rio Olympic. The giant goalkeeper who
weight 79 and 1.83 height won Bronze medal in men’s football event at the All
African Game in Congo.
He graduated
with Diploma Certificate in two different courses at the Kano State Polytechnic,
Kano State.
