U-23 camp is very competitive, says Makalala

Lobi Stars’ Victor Makala has revealed that all players at the national U-23 camp in Abuja are fighting hard to give their best to the team.

Makala, who plays as the attacking midfielder at Lobi Stars, has now been converted to play at right full back by coach Samson Siasia.

The 22-year-old star, who went on trials with Georgia FC of Atlanta Georgia, United States of America before he returned back home was impressive at his new role as he was adjudged best player in the team’s 2-1 win over Rainbow FC in a friendly encounter played on Thursday in Abuja.

The former Igho FC of Sapele star, who admitted that the national team training is more viable than club’s training, said he is ready to give his best to the team.

“It is a different ball game here,” Makalala said to Sportinglens.blogspot. “National team training is different from club’s training. Every game here is like playing your last game. Every player here has committed spirit and we have tactical technical crew led by coach Samson Siasia. The training is tough and spirit is very high. I am learning new thing every day.”

The foreign-based players yielded to coach Samson Siasia calls as all of them reported to camp before Wednesday deadline.

The Sapele-born star confirmed that there is good relationship between home-based players and foreign-based players.

“We have good understanding with foreign-based players. The blending is very good and we have good communication. We are not intimidated at all because some of us have played abroad before coming back home to play. It is one united team,” he said.
