Wikki Tourists striker Victor Yakubu has lost his father.
Late Pa Yakubu died on Thursday morning in Bauchi.
Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports that Victor received
the news of his father’s demise while the team was on their way to
Port-Harcourt to honour the Match Day 17 of the Nigeria Professional Football
League (NPFL) tie against Rivers United.
The club secretary Hammed Tijjani Suleiman who disclosed
the information said the club has since released Victor to join the rest of his
family in mourning his late father.
Suleiman said the player will miss this weekend’s game
against Rivers United due to the incident.
He sympathized with Victor’s family and he prayed to God
to give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
“On behalf
of the Wikki Tourists management, players and the entire fans of the club, we
are sending our condolence to Victor Yakubu who lost his father. May his Soul
Rest in Peace,” Suleiman prayed.
Victor
joined Wikki Tourists FC from Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) four
seasons ago.
