Rangers, 3SC share points in Enugu

Shooting Stars sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan forced Rangers International to a 1-1 draw in the Match Day 15 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clash at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Sunday.

It was a massive game between Oluyole Warriors and Flying Antelopes
as the old rivalry clash lived up to its billing to the delight of spectators at the stadium.

Substitute Tope Orelope converted a 90+3 penalty after Etim Matthew handled the ball in the box and the referee awarded 3SC a penalty. Interestingly, Orelope scored against Rangers last season as well.

Chisom Egbuchunom had scored for Rangers in the 80th minute through the spot kick after he was felled in the box.

It is understood that coach Kadiri Ikhana didn't make the team as he is recovering from illness.

The club’s media officer, Jubril Arowolo informed that the team will move straight to camp when they arrive in Ibadan tomorrow.

He said the club’s General Manager Rasheed Balogun has promised a surprise package to the team as he commended players and technical crew for a job well done.

Rangers coach, Imama Amapakabo admitted in an interview after the match that 3SC were tough.

"Shooting Stars made it tough for us and that could be understood. The two teams are old rivals and it showed in the game. We shall go back and work,” Amapakabo said.

3SC assistant coach Friday Christopher cherished his side’s first away point this season.

"It was a tough game no doubt and it was expected. Both teams are old rivals and put aside the result, it is always fireworks when they play.  This is our first point on the road and against Rangers, it is massive,” an elated Christopher said.

The point still keeps Rangers in top spot with 28 points while 3SC are now fourth from bottom.
