Professional Football League (NPFL) was thrown into mourning on Sunday as the Plateau United attacking midfielder Simon Shehu died in an auto crash.
The club’s
General Manager Pius Senwan revealed to Sportinglens.blospot.com that Shehu died on his way to Kaduna when he was going home to prepare for
his wedding ceremony coming up on Saturday.
He said the
accident occurred two Kilometers to Kaduna when the two tires of a car he was
travelling with burst.
“It is with
deep shock that we announced the untimely death of our player, Simon Shehu, who
died in an auto crash earlier today (Sunday). I got the information during our
match against Kano Pillars but the incident happened before the match. I am
still in shock because he was travelling home to prepare for his wedding coming
up next week Saturday,” Senwan said to Sportinglens.blospot.com.
Shehu joined
Plateau United three seasons ago and he was part of the squad that helped the club gained promotion to the NPFL last season.
