Rivers
United top striker Frederick Obomate has been declared fit to start against
Akwa United in Wednesday’s Match Day 18 of the Nigeria Professional Football
League (NPFL) at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Coach
Stanley Eguma was forced to make changes to the team’s squad after Obomate pulled up with an injury during the warm up before Sunday’s Match Day 17 clash
against Abia Warriors at the Umuahia Stadium.
Obomate was
replaced by Ebuka Nnaebuo after all efforts to get him back on his feet proved
abortive.
The club’s
Media Officer Sammy Wejinya told Sportinglens.blogspot.com that Obomate is 100 per cent okay
to return.
“Obomate is
ready to start against Akwa United on Wednesday. His injury was not serious
only that the coach did not want to risk him for the game against Abia Warriors
because the pitch was not good,” Wejinya said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com
Wejinya
informed that all the players on the injury list are in the frame to return
against Akwa United except the Togolese international Joseph Douhadji who will
miss the match due to sickness.
“Douhadji is
sick and he will not make the list. Apart from him we have full squad,” he
said.
