National
Telecommunications Company, Globacom, has congratulated the national Under-20
team, Flying Eagles on the team’s victory against Burundi’s U-20 team on
Saturday.
The Flying
Eagles defeated Burundi by a lone goal scored by Chukwudi Agor in the 64th minute of the first leg of the
2017 CAF U-20 African Cup of Nations qualifier in Bujumbura.
The two
teams will lock horns again in the second leg encounter scheduled for Calabar
on 10th of June, 2016.
In a
statement in Lagos on Tuesday, Globacom commended the fighting spirit of the
young Nigerians and tasked the technical crew to guide the team to victory in
Calabar.
“We urge the
Flying Eagles to ensure that they complete their outstanding performance in
Burundi by winning the second leg convincingly, thus qualifying for the final
round,” the statement said.
“We also
want to assure the team that Nigerians are behind them to succeed in the task
ahead. They have started very well in the qualifiers. They can only consolidate
their good run,” the statement concluded.
The winner
of the two-legged encounter will face Sudan to book a place in the next U-20
AFCON taking place in Zambia in 2017.
The Flying
Eagles are the tournaments defending champions’ and have won the trophy seven
times.
Globacom is
the major partner of the Nigeria Football Federation and official sponsor of
Nigerian national teams.
