Shooting
Stars Sports Club (3SC) FC of Ibadan Coach Kadiri Ikhana has said that he is
still trying to build a formidable team at Oluyole
Warriors.
3SC defeated
10-man Rivers United 1-0 in a Match Day seven clash at the Lekan Salami
Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan on Saturday.
A Wasiu
Jimoh penalty kick late in the first half was all 3SC needed to secure maximum
three points at stake in the match.
But despite
the victory, the former Enyimba of Aba manager said he is still need a lot of
work to do in the team.
“There are
signs of improvement in the team but it is not yet a stabilised team. We are
still trying to build a team,” Ikhana told SportingLife.
The former
African Coach of the Year also feels unconcerned that his side failed to
utilise a one-man advantage over his opponents on Saturday.
United were
reduced to ten men after Ofem Inah, who was making his season’s debut in the
absence of the suspended Ayobami Asekunowo, received a straight red card for
upending Nojeem Olukokun in the box.
“Sometimes
in football playing one-man down does not give you advantages. It has happened
in so many matches. Infact, some team does play better when they were one-man
down. What was important for us was that we were able to curtail Rivers United
and we won the match,” he said.
