Mikel threatens to leave Chelsea for first-team football

Super Eagles captain and Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has issued an ultimatum on his future.
The Nigeria international is demanding first team football and says he'll leave this summer if it's not promised to him.

Mikel was a bit-part player under Jose Mourinho but has been used more regularly by interim boss Guus Hiddink.

Antonio Conte is expected to take over at the Bridge in the summer and is understood to want to overhaul his midfield.
He has been linked with moves for Radja Nainggolan, Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba. But Mikel wants to talk about his future with the new boss.

“I have one more season with Chelsea but I know when this season ends, we will definitely sit down and try to sort out whatever needs to be sorted out,” he told Goal.com.
“If it means me leaving, fine. If it means me staying, then I have to play because one thing I don't want to do is to sit on the bench like I did before.”

He added: “It's not very nice (being on the bench), especially now when you have kids you just want to do what you can to play. Wherever it is I just want to play. When this season ends we will definitely sort out the contracts. Legacy is important and I'm very proud and happy that I've kept this legacy to be able to achieve what I have achieved.”
