El-Kanemi
Warriors FC will soon return home to Maiduguri for the rest of their Nigeria
Professional Football League (NPFL) home matches this season, according to the
team’s media manager Anthony Obaseki.
The Borno Armies have been playing their home matches at the adopted home ground in Karkanda
Stadium, Katsina due to insecurity in Borno State.
Obaseki told
SportingLife that the League
Management Company (LMC) delegate will visit Borno next week to ascertain the
level of safety in the state.
The club’s
image maker is confident that his team would be allowed to play its home
matches in Maiduguri starting with week 11 league game against Shooting Stars Sports
Club (3SC) of Ibadan.
“I want to
inform you that we will be back home very soon to play our matches in Maiduguri
and we are going to start with week 11 game. Everything has been put in place,”
Obaseki told SportingLife.
“You see I
am happy with the development so far about move to return to Maiduguri for our home
matches. It has not been easy with the team playing home away from home but
thanks to our sports loving Governor ALHAJI Kashim Shettima and the club’s
management led by Zanna Mala Kakaje.
“We have
been playing outside Maiduguri for three years now and it is too costly for us.
Just imagine for last one week, we have been on the road, from Maiduguri to
Katsina , from Katsina to Jos and from Jos to Katsina it has not been easy .
“Now that
there is hope to return back to Maiduguri, we thank LMC in advance and thank
the state government for their support to the team,” Obaseki said.
