Sunshine Stars cherish first league win

Sunshine Stars Media Officer, Wahab Bankole has described his team’s 2-1 win over Shooting Stars Sports club (3SC) of Ibadan on Sunday as a morale booster to the team.
The Owena Waves heaved a sigh of relief after securing its first victory of the season in the clash against Oluyole Warriors in a week nine of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) at the Akure Stadium on Sunday.

Bankole in a chat with SportinLife said the team has been able to overcome problem facing the club since the beginning of this campaign.

“The victory came at the right time because we have been looking for it for a very long time. It is our first victory this season and it is a relief to the entire team,” Bankole told SportingLife.

“We have problem of blending the team together before but we thank God that everything is normal now. There is perfect understanding among the players now. It is a morale booster and we cherished the win so much. We appreciate the performances of the players in the game against 3SC and we want to appreciate our fans for their understanding too.”

Sunshine Stars will play two away matches against Niger Tornadoes and Ikorodu United in their next league matches.
Bankole, who admitted that the matches would be difficult, said he is confident that his side would get something in the matches.

“It will be difficult playing two away matches back-to-back but we will try our best. What is important is that the winning jinx has been finally broken and we will build on that. Our redemption started with a narrow lost to Giwa FC and draw against Rivers United in Port-Harcourt before we finally won against 3SC.”
