Egypt boss Héctor Cúper has named a
25-man squad ahead of the Pharaohs’ upcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations
qualifying double-header against Nigeria later this month.
Cúper previously announced a
five-man list of foreign-based players, naming Ahmed Hassan ‘Koka’, Amr Warda,
Mahmoud Hassan ‘Trezeguet’, Mohamed Elneny and Mohamed Salah among the first
players in his squad.
The Argentinian added seven players
from Al Ahly:
Abdallah El-Said, Ahmed Hegazy, Amr
Gamal, Hossam Ghaly, Ramadan Sobhy, Rami Rabia and Sabry Rahil.
Zamalek also had nine players called
up for national team duty:
Ahmed Dweidar, Ahmed El-Shennawy,
Ali Gabr, Ayman Hefny, Hamada Tolba, Hazem Emam, Mostafa Fathi, Omar Gaber and
Tarek Hamed.
In addition to those players,
veteran Essam El-Hadary of Wadi Degla, along with in-form Petrojet keeper
Mohamed El-Shennawy were called up. Joining the pair will be Ismaily’s Marwan
Mohsen, who has 10 goals this season, and Smouha’s Ibrahim Salah.
The first leg will take place on
Friday the 25th of March in Nigeria, while the return leg will see Alexandria
hosting four days later on Tuesday the 29th of March.
