Iwobi stables after food poisoning treatment

Super Eagles head coach Samson Siasia has confirmed that Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi is in stable condition after he was treated for food poisoning.
Iwobi was hospitalised in Nigerian capital Abuja after falling ill from food poisoning.

Iwobi, 19, was struck down after eating a salad with the rest of the squad at the training base in Abuja.

He was too sick to train with the rest of the squad ahead of Friday’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt.

"He suffered from food poisoning and so was not part of the training. But his condition is stable," Siasia told a news conference.
“Iwobi probably got sick after eating a salad, Siasia said.

His father, Chuka, who flew with him from London, has visited the young striker in hospital.

Over the weekend, Iwobi crowned his first full Arsenal Premier League debut with a goal in a 2-0 win over Everton.

He has played two friendly matches for Nigeria since he changed international allegiance from England.

England's last-ditch attempt to convince Iwobi to turn his back on Nigeria was not succeeded.

Reports in England had claimed that the FA made an effort to convince the 19-year-old not to board a flight to Nigeria, where he could cement his international future if he features for the Super Eagles in their African Nations Cup (ANC) qualifier against Egypt on Friday.
