City must overcome French champions Paris Saint-Germain to reach the Champions
League semi-finals after Friday's quarter-final draw in Nyon saw holders
Barcelona paired with Spanish title rivals Atletico Madrid, who lost the 2014
Champions League final to Real Madrid 4-1 after extra-time.
Manuel
Pellegrini's City side have been handed a tough task against the team who
ousted Chelsea in the last 16, but they will be pleased to have avoided holders
Barca, who face Spanish Liga rivals Atletico, their closest rivals to win the
Spanish league.
Atletico are
second in La Liga, eight points behind Barca after 29 matches.
Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich face Benfica
while Real Madrid face German side Wolfsburg.
Guardiola
becomes City manager this summer, but is aiming to depart Munich as a European
champion after his side completed an incredible 6-4 aggregate win over Juventus
in the last 16.
Bayern
trailed 2-0 at home, but recovered to level at 2-2 on the night before scoring
twice in extra-time at the Allianz Arena to sink the Italian champions, who had
lost last year's final 3-1 to Barca.
Bayern's
last success in the tournament came in the 2013 final when they downed Borussia
Dortmund 2-1 at Wembley.
The first
leg of the quarter-final round will held on 5th and 6th April, 2016 while the
return leg with take place a week later, on 12th and 13th April, 2016.
15th April,
2016, the semi-final draw will be announced at Nyon.
