Nigeria’s
representatives in the 2016 CAF Champions League, Enyimba Football Club of Aba
and Warri Wolves with face opposition from Burundi and Sudan in the next round
of the competition.
Champions
Enyimba dispatched Ugandan opponents Vipers FC, 2-1on aggregate to advance to
the next round while Warri Wolves moved into the first round without kicking a
ball after their opponents withdrew.
The
Warri based side were to play Sporting Clube da Praia Cruz of Sao Tome and
Principe the Island club withdrew which gave Wolves a pass into the first
round.
After
losing 1-0 to Vipers in the first leg in Uganda, Enyimba had to dig deep before
overpowering their opponents 2-0 last weekend with Mfon Udoh’s brace to win 2-1
on aggregate.
Enyimba
FC will now meet Vital’O of Burundi while Warri Wolves will lock horns with
Al-Merrikh of Sudan in the first round.
The
winners of the first round matches will progress to the second round with th
winners going into the group stage of the competition
First
leg matches of the first round will be played between March 11-13, while second
leg matches will be played between March 18-20, 2016.
