Players of
Kano Pillars have been given a day rest after their hard-earned 3-2 victory
over Akwa United in a match day five encounter at the Kano Pillars Stadium on
Sunday.
The club’s
technical adviser Mohammed Baba Ganaru allowed the players to rest on Monday
and they are expected back at the training on Tuesday morning.
Rabiu Ali was the hero of the day with a hat
trick as Kano Pillars proved their superiority over their mulish visitors.
The Promise
Keepers took the lead after 10 minutes through Michael Ibe Okoro but the celebration
was short-lived as Ali waited just four minutes to erase the lead and scored
the second goal 12 minutes later.
It was Ubong
Ekpai, his former Kano Pillars mate that restored parity for his new club, Akwa
United on 44th minute to end the first half 2-2.
But Ali raised
the hope for his team again as he completed his hat trick to earn Sai Masu Gida
all three points at stake in the match.
The club’s
media officer, Idris Malikawa admitted that Akwa United were tough opponents.
“The match
was very tough and we are happy that we won. The players and the fans are thanking
God for the victory. It was a difficult match and the players were allowed to
rest on Monday and they will resume training on Tuesday,” Malikawa told SportingLife.
