Ogunbote thanks Ibadan fans for warm reception

Giwa FC Technical Adviser Gbenga Ogunbote was emotional over a warm reception accorded him by the Ibadan fans on Sunday during his side’s 2-1 defeat to Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan in the match day five Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Ogunbote played his first league game at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan on Sunday after leaving 3SC to join Giwa FC at the beginning of the season.

Izu Joseph put 3SC ahead in the 2nd minute with a header and substitute Umar Kabir took it to two in the 88th minute before Isiaki Olawale scored a consolation goal in the 91st minute to the disappointment of the home fans who blamed goalie Emmanuel Fabiyi for the unpardonable error.

"It was a balanced game but we never believed we are going to lose but losing means we have to go back to drawing board. I never expected the kind of warm reception I got that underscored the fact that Ibadan fans are good people, I love them,” Ogunbote said.
