The
management of Warri Wolves have expressed concern over the excess delegation of
their opponents Al-Merrikh SC of Sudan in this weekend CAF Champions League
first round first league.
SportingLife
understands that the management of El Merrikh wrote to Warri Wolves management
that they are coming to Nigeria with 31-man delegation.
It was
gathered that Al-Merrikh arrived in Nigeria 2pm on Thursday aboard Egypt
Airline only to discover that they sneaked in additional ten people to the
surprise of their host team.
The club’s
media officer, Azuka Chiemeka, who received the delegation in Abuja, told
SportingLife that Warri Wolves will only responsible for 31-man delegation
while other take care of themselves.
“They
(Al-Merrikh) didn’t follow what they told us. They wrote to us that they are
coming with 31-man delegation which we planned for, but what we have here in
Abuja is more than the expected delegation. There is an extra ten people. We
have told them that we can only responsible for the number of delegation they
told us while the remaining people should take care of themselves,” Chiemaka
told SportingLife.
Al-Merrikh
stayed at the Gombe Hotel, Abuja on Thursday and they are expecting to fly to
Warri by 9 am today by Arik Airline.
He also
disclosed that Speaker Delta State House of Assemble, Rt. Honourable Monday
Igbuya will represent the state governor on Sunday.
“The speaker
will be the number one supporter of Warri Wolves on Sunday. All arrangement is
going on as planned. We are only praying for Sunday to come. All the players
are intact we don’t have any injury worry,” he said.
