Players and
officials of Al-Merrikh SC of Sudan are expected to arrive in Nigeria on
Thursday ahead of Sunday’s CAF Champions League first round first leg clash
against Warri Wolves.
The club’s
media officer, Azuka Chiemeka who disclosed this to SportingLife, said the
31-man delegation will arrive in Abuja by mid-day on Thursday and heading
straight to Warri- venue of the match- on the same day.
Chiemeka
said Al-Merrikh SC have the choice to choose their hotel between Protea Hotel
and Hotel Excel when they arrive Warri.
“We have
best of hotel in Warri and Al-Merrikh SC have choice to choose any hotel of
their choice. We are expecting a 31-man delegation on Thursday,” Chiemeka told
SportingLife.
However, the
management of Warri Wolves has assured Al-Merrikh SC of maximum security
before, during after the game on Sunday in Warri.
Chiemeka
said the Sudanese delegate will enjoying best of hospitality during their stay
in Nigeria.
“The
management wants to assure our opponent in this weekend CAF champions league
that the Warri City stadium and the city of Warri is very safe, and as such
assures the visiting team the best of hospitality from Warri Wolves,” he
promised.
“The team
last year played at various stages of the CAF Confederation Cup and they were
not found wanting when it comes to safety and security of their visiting
teams.”
