Kano Pillars
hero Rabiu Ali has expressed delight over his hat trick in his side’s 3-2 win
over Akwa United in a match day five of the Nigeria Professional football
League clash at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano on Sunday.
Ali put his
name on the Sai Masu Gida’s memory record after scoring his second hat trick
for his boyhood club against Akwa United.
The club’s
veteran scored his first hat trick for Pillars two seasons ago in a 3-2 win
over Rangers FC at the Sani Abacha stadium.
Ali, who is
spending almost his nine seasons in the colour of Kano Pillars, ensured that
his club gets a deserved maximum three points at stake in the match after
scoring his hat trick as Sai Masu Gida proved their superiority over their
mulish visitors.
The Promise
Keepers took the lead after 10 minutes through Michael Ibe Okoro but the
celebration was short-lived as Ali waited just four minutes to erase the lead
and scored the second goal 12 minutes later.
It was Ubong
Ekpai that restored parity for his new club, Akwa United on 44th minute to end
the first half 2-2.
But Ali
raised the hope for his team again as he completed his hat trick to earn Sai
Masu Gida all three points at stake in the match.
In a chat
with SportingLife, Ali thanked God and his teammates for making it possible for
him to score the goals.
“We thanked
God that we won the match. It was victory for the team, our fans and people of
Kano in general. It was a tough game but we thank God we were able to defeat
our opponents. I thank my colleagues too for their support,” Ali told SportingLife.
Ali,
however, said he and his colleagues will work hard to reclaim NPFL title this
season.
“It is not a
mission impossible and Insha Allah we will work towards it. We have good
coaching crew led by Baba Ganaru and we have quality players in the team. What
we need now is to be focused and determined. We have done it before and we can
do it against Insha Allah,” the former Nasarawa United, Zamfara United and
defunct Bank of the North player said.
